Because I can...
C.S.Lewis wrote "You are never too old to set a new goal or dream a new dream."
So here I am at 33 setting new goals, most assuredly, out of my comfort zone. Why? Because God allows me my health and a new day each day - I can.
Setting a goal and conquering has given me a sense of achievement that I've never felt before in my life.
So, why a triathlon? Because I'm impatient! I want to do it all at once!
Training for a triathlon will force me to become patient. I can swim correctly 50 meters at this time.
My husband, just bought me my first road bike last week, so I've ridden it twice.
Run? I can do that! (Said the girl who'd never ridden a bike for miles then tried to run)
I've been doing running what seems like most my life, but stopped for a few years and recently started back up this month, as well as running competitively this month.
I completed my first super sprint tri (250m swim, 6 mile bike, 1.5 run) 6/12/13. I realized then I have so much training to do!
I am in a new ball park, and don't know how to swing my bat at this pitcher. So join me as I embark upon this year through, trial, tears, exhaustion, mistakes and prayer.
I will do this because I can! Blessings, NJ
